Substitute Policy
The PowerCore attendance policy allows for only three absences during
each six month period. Members who make arrangements for a substitute to
attend their meeting, give their InfoMinute and exchange their referrals are
not considered absent. As compensation, the substitute is allowed to give an
InfoMinute about their own business, and put their business cards into the
business card file. It is unrealistic to expect to find a substitute late
the day before your meeting.
Substitute Etiquette
If you are a Substitute:
Read the InfoMinute before the Meeting
Stumbling through a written InfoMinute
makes you look bad, lowering the credibility you want in the InfoMinute you
are about to give for yourself.
Say the Member's name properly
Show up early or call someone on the Team
to ask about pronunciation.
Be on time
For a PowerCore event, that's ten minutes
early.
Don't laugh
Laughing or being sarcastic when
representing another tells the Team that you're not to be trusted.
Make sure you can see
Sit where you can read and bring your
glasses if needed.
If you need a substitute:
Prepare
Prepare a legible copy of your InfoMinute
and directions to the meeting to send to your Substitute, along with the
referrals you have for your Team members for that week.
Choose a substitute
Use the sub list to choose people whose
profession is NOT represented on your Team. Call or e-mail several prospective subs until you
find someone who can sub for you. Leave detailed messages to avoid telephone
tag.
The hand-off
Give your InfoMinute and your referrals to
your substitute. Tell them anything they will need to know about your
meeting. Have them pick up the referrals you receive, and fax or mail them
to you after the meeting.
Follow through
Thank your substitute. Offer to return the
favor when they need a substitute.
